We are constantly putting a great deal of thought, effort, resources, and tools in place to protect and safeguard your privacy. The Good Listener "Privacy Policy" contains information and details on issues related to your privacy when using our services. We want all clients to be informed of our policies, practices, and procedures used regarding the collection, disclosure, and use of any information that you provide to The Good Listener.


What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Information Collection, Use, and Disclosure:


In order to use The Good Listener Platform effectively we have to collect some personally identifiable information such as, your name, telephone number, email address, and payment information. Protecting this information is a top priority for us. The Good Listener will never disseminate, rent, or sell any information you shared on the The Good Listener Platform. Other than in the limited ways detailed in this Privacy Policy, we will never use or disclose any personal information, unless you specifically and explicitly request or approve us to do so on your behalf. The personal information we have collected may be used or disclosed to third parties for one or more of the following business or marketing purposes:

  • To create your account on The Good Listener Platform so you can log into your account as well as use the platform.

  • To manage your account, provide you with customer support, and to ensure you are receiving quality service.

  • To contact you or provide you with information and suggestions that are related to the service.

  • For billing-related purposes.

  • To reach out to you with appointment reminders.

  • To enable and facilitate listening or life coaching services

To measure and improve the effectiveness, delivery and the quality of our services.


  • To respond to law enforcement requests and as required by applicable law, court order, or governmental regulations.

  • To comply with applicable state and federal laws, including, but not limited to laws related to protecting the client and the public health and safety.


    Comments

    When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

    An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

    Media

    If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.


    Social Media

     The Good Listener uses several publicly available social networking tools and information exchange resources, such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube. Any information your provide or share while using a social media platform may be read, accessed, and/or collected by that site and uses of that site according to their own Privacy Policy which is beyond the control of The Good Listener. 


    Cookies

    Like many websites, we use "cookies" to collect information. A cookie is a small data file that is transferred to your computer's hard disk for record-keeping purposes. We use cookies to enable the technical operation of The Good Listener Platform and to administer your log-in to your account. You can change your web browser's settings so it will stop accepting cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie. However, if you do not accept cookies you may not be able to use the The Good Listener Platform effectively.

    Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

    Phishing and Online Identity Theft

    If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. Online identity theft and account hacking, including the practice currently know as "phishing", are major concerns for users of technology. You should always be diligent when you are being asked for your account information and you must always make sure that you that in our secure The Good Listener Platform. We will never request your account login information or your payment information in any non-secure unsolicited email, telephone, or text message communication. 

    Who we share your data with

    How long we retain your data

    If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

    For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

    What rights you have over your data

    If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.


    Where we send your data

    Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.


    Security

    Using any Internet based service carries inherent security risks that cannot be 100% prevented. The Good Listener, infrastructure encryption technology, operation, and processes all are designed, built, and maintained with your security and privacy in mind.  We apply industry standards and best practices to prevent any unauthorized access, use, and/or disclosure. We comply with or exceed all applicable federal, state, and local law regulations regarding data privacy.

    Independent Service Providers

     We employ third party companies to facility The Good Listener Platform. These third parties perform certain tasks which are related to the operation, technical maintenance, email management, and communication, database management, billing, and payment processing, as well as reporting and analytics of The Good Listener.  We will share with them only the minimum necessary information to perform their task for us and only after entering into appropriate confidentiality agreements with them. 

    Compliance with Law Enforcement

     The Good Listener cooperates with federal, state, and local government agencies and law enforcement officials to enforce and comply with the law. We may disclose information necessary or appropriate to protect the safety of the public or any person, to respond to claims and legal process including but not limited to subpoenas, and to prevent or stop activity that may be illegal or dangerous. You should also be aware that The Good Listener may be obliged to disclose information to law enforcement or other authorities to conform to their professional and legal responsibilities. Specifically, and without limitation, you should be aware that the law requires wellness professionals to disclose information and/or take action in the following cases: 


    • Reported or suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult 
    • Serious suicidal potential 
    • Threatened harm to another person
    • Court-ordered presentation of treatment


    Changes to the Private Policy

     The Good Listener may update this "Privacy Policy" at our sole discretion. We encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information on our "Privacy Policy". Regardless of changes to our "Privacy Policy", The Good listener will never use the personal information you submit in a new way without first notifying you and giving you the option to "opt-out" of using your personal data.

    Remember

    The Good Listener does not have any sort of professional license to practice clinical therapy. Any services procured from The Good Listener should be done so with that knowledge in mind. The Good Listener is just a service for hiring a professional to listen to you through scheduled sessions and/or provide advice and direction in life coaching areas
